THE CHEF

Mark has only ever wanted to pursue a career in catering. As any aspiring chef does, he headed straight to the bright lights of London after finishing his catering studies at Stratford Upon Avon. His early experience began in the kitchens of the prestigious Claridges hotel. After spending three years working through all departments of the kitchen, absorbing and learning everything as he went, he spent the next few years progressing up the ladder in large restaurants such as the Avenue and the Atlantic.

 

In 2002, Mark decided to change his focus and surroundings. He moved to Wiltshire to work with an old friend from London who had recently taken over a busy village pub. It was here that Mark met 'Mrs Chef'.

 

In 2008, they both moved to Stroud. Following some time familiarising themselves with the local area, Mark took a job as head chef at Cowley Manor, a boutique hotel outside of Cheltenham.

 

In 2011, Mark decided that the time was right to start his first solo venture and set about creating his own business at mark@street in Nailsworth.

 

In July 2015 Mark and Sarah purchased the Bell Inn. Within 18 months of opening, the Inn was Michelin listed, awarded two rosettes by the AA and listed in The Good Food Guide - quite an achievement! When not in the the pub or at the allotment, Mark and Sarah can be found relaxing at home with Boris and pub dog, Bacchus.
